Great Waterwood Tree

The great waterwood tree is a rare type of evergreen tree with bluish wood. People have used it’s blue wood for centuries for its pretty color, not durable though.

In 2017, Michaelson Sherð started an effort to replant the tree across the whole archipelago, his team (Waterwood Replanting Foundation) has successfully replanted nearly 19,000 trees on Bræ island as of 2023.

These maps show the extent of the waterwood forest on Bræ Island.

It is only found on Bræ Island, however, it used to span the whole archipelago, the blue tinges are visible on the map.
