Axolin Island in Lake Axolin has an active volcano named Mount Scæliak (Pronounced like Shayliak) that is notorious for producing pumice, these pumice rafts can be stable enough to stand on and can last months floating around the lake.
One raft that was produced in the December 1999 eruption was 5 square miles and lasted 1 year, a fishing camp was even set up on it, it was officially named Axolin Raft 1999 B, but was nicknamed Big Chunk.
The pumice usually either gets sent to the ocean by the Axolin River or simply sinks to the lakebed, sometimes it washes up and becomes collected.
