2015 Axolotlia-British Cyberwar, First Attack.
Date: February 15-18, 2015.
Damage: ~$64,247,000,000
Deaths: 238 (due to power outages in hospitals)
On February 15th, 2015, Axolotlia went into a massive panic, their communications network was knocked down by another cyber attack. Not only their communications though, all government websites, some major banks, and even critical online infrastructure was targeted, and either damaged or taken offline. Axolotlia scrambled to find the culprit, and soon, they got messages from British citizens that the British government and military did it. In just 8 hours, Axolotlia was crippled, their government and military was unable to act, about half of the country’s population (~811,500 people) were without electricity, which sadly killed 238 people in hospitals, and almost a quarter (~405,750 people) had no cell connection as a result of the attack. This first attack caused almost 64.25 billion USD in damages.
2015 Axolotlia-British Cyberwar, Retaliation.
Date: February 28-March 2, 2015.
Damage: ~$26,413,000,000
Deaths: 0
Axolotlia was obviously not going to let the British get away with this, the Axolotlian Government managed to get some of the country’s electricity and internet connection back up and running, just enough to retaliate, and with the help of “Anonymous”, the global hacker group, Axolotlia punched back. From Feb 28, to March 2, 2015 Axolotlia and Anonymous managed to knock out 5% of the UK’s electricity (3,256,000 people, almost exactly 2x Axolotlia’s total population at the time), and disabled multiple of the UK’s government websites. They failed to take down any cell networks, and unlike in Axolotlia, no deaths occurred. Axolotlia’s retaliation caused much less relative damage to the UK, due to the UK’s much larger size, Axolotlia dealt only 26 billion dollars in damage, due to the only major hit being the electricity network.
2015 Axolotlia-British Cyberwar, Final Skirmishes.
Date: March 2-March 13, 2015. (11 days)
Damage: ~$5,743,000,000 (~$497,545,000/day, ~$21,632,000/attack, ~23 attacks/day)
Damage ~$3,924,000,000 dealt to Axolotlia. ~$1,549,000,000 dealt to the UK.
Deaths: 3 (2 in Axolotlia, 1 in UK)
Axolotlia and the UK kept launching much smaller cyber attacks for the next 11 days. Axolotlia consistently dealt much less damage throughout the cyberwar due to its much smaller size, and weaker economy, and because it suffered more damage with each British attack, it couldn’t retaliate as hard. The first British attack was almost a wipeout blow, which significantly hampered any ability for Axolotlia to retaliate.
Both sides had very little time to react, for example, on just March 5, Axolotlia and The UK sent about 290 cyber attacks, each one dealt an average of $1,200,000 (very small), totaling about $348,000,000, which was a relatively light day.
2015 Axolotlia-British Cyberwar, Total.
Date: February 15-March 13, 2015.
Damage: ~$94,403,000,000 (~$68,171,000,000 to Axolotlia, ~$27,962,000,000 to UK. 2.4-1)
Deaths: 241 (240 Axolotlian, 1 British)
All in all, the 2015 Axolotlia-British Cyberwar was one of, if not the largest cyber conflict in human history. It is the largest war in history that did not involve conventional soldiers or military equipment, and rivals some major conventional wars in terms of cost and deaths.
This war was very short, and left little time for preparations or even planning, was very rapidly evolving, especially during the Final Skirmishes, and both sides scrambled to do anything with the little time they had in between attacks.
It was the costliest war in Axolotlian history, more than the Axolotlian Civil War, Canadian Invasion, and even the World Wars as a British colony.
