The black beaver is a beaver species only found in Axolotlia, they are communal, up to 50 lodges can be found in one dam lake, and their lakes can get large as the countless beavers all work together to maintain their dam.
They also defend it from predators together with their high intelligence.
If a colonial beaver dam fails it can unleash a large wave downstream. Their dams can spread many many yards and flood multiple acres.
The largest colony discovered has 273 beavers, their dam is 1.1 miles wide and has created a wetland around 3,200 acres in area on a minor tributary of the North Grent River.
Their wetlands are famously home to Axolotlian axolotls.
