The dogfish (houndfisc in Axolisc) is a fish species that fills a similar role to the Axolotlian axolotls, and were thought to be extinct hundreds of years ago, but they have recently made a comeback after evolving to become more competitive and are now a strong predator in most lakes and rivers across the country. They eat axolotls and fish and are an apex predator of Axolotlia’s water. Thankfully they will never make Axolotlian axolotls go extinct because the axolotls can go on land and in saltwater, both of which it cannot do.
They were nearly extinct and unseen for nearly a century before reappearing and now are prospering.
